Skills system broken (still...)

I completed the prestige process once in an older build, but with the latest build (and about 50% of the skill points completed) the skills are not working.

Other users here and in the touch arcade forum have reported it. It makes the game far less fun since Im not getting the benefits of the time Ive put in, so Im dropping my rating of the otherwise good game. This seems like a critical bug.
